A Ground-Breaking
New Book by
Brandon Soltwisch, PhD
A revolutionary new way to dramatically improve your life by mastering your approach to one simple thing: choice.
We live in a world of opposites: the successful vs the struggling, the happily married vs the miserable couple, those who feel inner peace in life vs those who are chronically anxious.
What if the outcome of these major life situations all boiled down to, not just the decisions we make, but how we’re individually pre-programmed to make them?
In Maximize your Life, Satisfy Your Mind, you’ll find answers to questions like:
Why do some people obsess over finding the best while others are happy with good enough?
Can our decision style predict whether we will get divorced or stay happily married?
How can I make the best decision when the pressure is on?
Are FOMO, regret, and ADHD, associated with the way we approach choice?
How can we use our decision styles to improve cognitive diversity, team performance, and collective decision making?
How can we feel better about the choices we make while still achieving better results, allowing us to live happier and more meaningful lives?
Embedded within our personalities are the hidden decisional tendencies that shape how we make choices and how we feel about the outcome of those choices.
Mastering our approach to decisions is the key to increased fulfillment, joy, love, and happiness.
Combining nearly 20 years of emerging behavioral science, including many of the author’s personal findings, this book takes you on a journey of self-discovery where you will learn how your unique approach to decisions impacts everything - from how you choose romantic partners to how you approach career decisions.
By testing your personal style in general decision-making, careers, and relationships, you can begin to see how your approach affects your life - ultimately allowing you to go for the best when it counts while increasing your happiness and life satisfaction.
With this knowledge, you can maximize your life while satisfying your mind.
Author's Vision
While sharing my research on maximizing and satisficing styles in public speaking events, conferences, and classrooms around the world, I’m surprised that most people have never heard of these styles before, even though this new, emerging work in behavioral decision making has such a profound impact on nearly every aspect of our lives.
After my talks, I’m often approached by audience members who are excited to find out more about their unique style and how it affects them.
Intuitively, they have a sense of whether they maximize or satisfice, yet they haven’t defined their style or measured it in any meaningful way.
Once aware of the different styles, people want to learn about the science behind their everyday actions, whether it be why they search endlessly on Netflix for movies and still can’t decide what they want to watch, or why they stay in mediocre relationships that don’t make them truly happy.
People always ask me, “How does my decision-making style affect my happiness?” and “How can I change how I make everyday decisions so I can live a better life?”
Everyone might be excited to learn about their own decision preferences, but they’re just as eager to discover how the important people in their life approach choice, often already having a hunch about their romantic partners, friends, and collegues.
Over the years, I’ve taken what I’ve learned from these conversations with real, everyday people and used their questions to guide my research, and I’ve come to realize that the emerging science of maximizing and satisficing can help people improve results, work with others more effectively, and live happier and more fulfilled lives.
Similar to how Daniel Goleman forever changed our notion of intelligence with his book Emotional Intelligence, my goal is to bring these decision-making styles to life by introducing them in a way that people will find equally practical and entertaining, making “maximizing” and “satisficing” household terms that provide a new understanding of the way we make decisions.
